We are a passionate and talented collection of thinkers, dreamers, and creatives.

Our story all began with an idea. We wanted to foster an inclusive space for designers, turning the community into something more meaningful.

Cornell UX Design Club (CUxD) exists to create a centralized community for UX/product designers at Cornell to learn and grow together both professionally and socially. We hope to facilitate meaningful bonds through book clubs, design pals, and more!

Additionally, we hope to demystify parts of the product design journey and bring designers together during this process.

FAQs:

Q. Why start this club? Who are you?

Due to Covid-19, meeting other designers has been difficult. We are a group of passionate product designers who want to:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Facilitate a community to make it easier to meet others who share our passion for UX design.

🤝 Support each other on our career journeys through casual activities.

🤓 Nerd out over design with people who think about products and UX in their everyday lives.

Q. Why do I need a form to access the Design Bunch community?

Design Bunch is a community for weekly and biweekly activities that members can participate in with others that are passionate and excited about product design. As a result, our **📝 [Access Form](https://forms.gle/yvd6o7sCw4Xrvs2R6)** asks for a [case study](https://bestfolios.medium.com/5-product-designer-portfolios-that-nailed-case-studies-fce4a950762c). We want to bring together people who are interested in pursuing this field! Without background knowledge in design, certain activities such as UI Jams or Portfolio Critiques wouldn't be as meaningful.

Don't have a case study but still interested in our community? Feel free to take [Introduction to Digital Product Design](https://www.cornellappdev.com/courses) or fill out our optional essay! Keep in mind that all workshops, seminars, and panels are completely open to the public. The Design Bunch Slack is primarily for active initiatives that require commitment such as book clubs and design pals.

Q. How much commitment is this club?

It's as much commitment as you want it to be! However, by joining the Design Bunch community, you are expected to participate in at least one community activity, whether it be design pals, design book club, or design jams, which would take anywhere from 1 hour/week to 1 hour/month.

Q. Can I join the team and help plan events?

Yes! We love passionate product people! We'll be opening team applications mid-semester after we get the ball rolling 🙂!

Q. Do other universities have similar clubs?

Yes! We did research and talked with various organizations across the country to better understand how to facilitate a product/UX design community. Organizations we talked to included Design at Berkeley, UC Davis Design Innovation, UW/UX (University of Waterloo UX), and UCSD Design Co.
